Sophie Duquesne is a university professor at Centrale Lille and a member of the UMET laboratory, specialising in materials science and, more specifically, polymers. She began her career working on the fireproofing of materials, before turning her attention, over the last ten years or so, to the field of recycling, and more specifically the catalytic pyrolysis of plastics. She is currently deputy director of the UMET and heads a team of thirty people working on various plastics recycling processes. She is also scientific manager of a technology cluster (POLYREC of the Institut Chevreul) and co-coordinator of the PLASTICS axis of the 3R (Recycling, Recyclability & Reuse of materials) priority research program and equipment.
